The Mary and The Dragon:
A Magdalene Odyssey in
The Pyrénées – June 16-25, 2026

Mary Magdalene’s presence is as powerful in the region surrounding the Pyrénées, as it is in Provence. Perhaps the pyrénéen land reveals even more facets of the Magdalene.

It is a land of the triple goddess – the white, the black and the rose. These are the three faces of The Mary.

On this pyrénéen odyssey you will journey intimately with The Magdalene, as she and the land activate the codes of the triple goddess within you. It is a journey to remember and reintegrate ALL of who you are.

You will meet the goddess of light in the waters, the dark goddess in the mountains, and the goddess of the rose imbued in the dragon frequency of the land.

Your odyssey culminates on Mount Canigou where Pyrene, lover of Hercules and mother of serpent wisdom, will release her fire to alchemise your transformation into The Embodied Rose.

My first glimpse of Mount Canigou (Canigó in Catalan) was in 2014 and it was love at first sight. This majestic mountain, sitting at the eastern end of the Pyrénées wearing its crown of white, magnetised me into its arms. I returned in 2015 and 2016 to do research for a retreat that I knew had to be held in that embrace, but it was not time – there was a missing piece. I’ve waited patiently for the stars to align and reveal what was missing, and in 2025 the mountain called me back because I now held that piece.

It was a book I’d bought in 2024 at Rennes-le-Château called Guardians of the Dragon Path by Ani Williams. Ani took me beyond the Magdalene codes I’d embodied and shared on retreat with others in the Languedoc and Provence regions, and led me across the border into Catalonia where Mary Magdalene’s presence is stronger than ever. I’d been to many of these places before, but not consciously tuned into the Magdalene frequency held in that land. You can listen to Ani talk about it here.

So in 2025 I returned to complete my research and The Mary and The Dragon Magdalene Odyssey was born. This odyssey profoundly connects with the wisdom I’ve been channelling on the triple goddess that is The Mary.

I have yearned to join the celebrations of Flama del Canigó at the solstice since I first heard about it in 2014, so this odyssey has been planned around that date. What an incredible fiery culmination to our transformative journey!

THE OVERALL JOURNEY

● Our intimate odyssey weaves through the potent eastern Pyrénées, a land pulsing with the Magdalene, from the waters of Aphrodite to the fiery peaks of Pyrene, and the hidden wombs in-between.

● Our sacred circles to activate our own white goddess, dark goddess and rose goddess will be held at the ancient sites we visit and our beautiful accommodation, wherever and whenever she calls us to Her.

TUESDAY JUNE 16 – CARCASSONNE TO ROSES

● Our odyssey commences at Carcassonne, departing at 10.30am. Although our destination is the Catalan town of Roses, we’ll take a 45 minute detour to the late Neolithic site of Dolmen des Fades (Dolmen of the Fairies in Catalan). Built between 3500-2000BC, this powerful site engulfs you in its elemental energy from the talking stones to the guardian trees and the faerie caretakers. This is the perfect portal for our opening ceremony.

● In 2024 we discovered a small family vineyard nearby and they happily made us a light lunch, so we’ll stop here before our two hour journey across the border to the Catalan beachside town of Roses. An ancient Greek settlement formerly know as Rhodes, Roses is located at the southern end of the Cap de Creus, meaning ‘Head or Cape of the Cross’. An older name for this cape is Promontory of Aphrodite…

● After checking into the Prestige Hotel Mar y Sol, we’ll visit a nearby ancient site, Dolmen de la Creu d’en Cobertella (Dolmen of the Covered Cross), to invoke the ancient dragon energies of this land. Catalonia’s largest dolmen looks out over the Mediterranean sea to the powerful Mount Canigó, where our journey from water (The Mary) to fire (The Dragon) ends. Ani Williams shares that a deep engraved hole on the dolmen known as the umbilical hole, is aligned to where the constellation Draco was located in the sky in 3500BC when it was built. This site is truly magnificent!

● After our immersion in this sacred energy, we’ll return to Roses for dinner.

WEDNESDAY JUNE 17 – ROSES

● We start our day with breakfast available from 8am and our departure planned for 9.30am, so there’s plenty of time for a Bay of Roses dip! Our destination is the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, a 30 minute drive up the Verdera mountain in the Cap de Creus national park. There has been a building on the site since the 6th century with the current church built in the 10th and 11th centuries. However the white goddess is calling us to a small spring dedicated to Venus-Aphrodite near the monastery, which existed long before the church buildings. This is all that remains from a Temple to Venus-Aphrodite (except that the temple stones were used in the monastery’s construction), and was the starting point for the 6000 year old pilgrimage route, the Way of the Stars, which later became known as the Camino de Santiago de Compostela. The route may have altered, but the scallop shell of Aphrodite continues to identify the path and the pilgrims who walk upon it, who unknowingly honour the goddess of water, love, beauty… life.

● We’ll hold a ceremony at the sacred spring of the white goddess, then take time to explore the magnificent monastery and stunning views. As always, it is the potent church crypt, the womb space, that holds the purest frequency.

● Our journey back to Roses will take a more circuitous route, passing through the town of El Port de la Selva where we’ll stop for lunch by the sea. We’ll return to Roses for siesta and then an afternoon walk to La Ciutadella (the Citadel), which contains buildings from the Roman settlement, the Greek settlement, Visigothic remains and much more. We’ll hold a circle within the walls of the 11th century Monastery of Santa Maria, possibly built over a Magdalene site, and tune into the white goddess who flows powerfully through this land.

● Your evening is free to do more exploration of the town, find a wonderful seafront restaurant, or spend a quiet evening in your room.

THURSDAY JUNE 18 – ROSES

After breakfast we have a 40 minute drive around the Bay of Roses to Empúries, a fascinating archaeological site with the remains of an ancient Greco-Roman city where the goddess is powerfully evident. Near our destination we’ll have a very special stop at the remains of a Mary Magdalene church from 370 CE, possibly the oldest known site dedicated to her. The energy is very powerful here and an underground water path connects this site to a chapel dedicated to Santa Margarida across the road. Margarida’s legend connects her to dragon wisdom and she is portrayed in Catalan paintings with dragon’s feet.

● Our destination of Empúries sits next to these sites and we’ll need a couple of hours to immerse ourselves in this fascinating archeaological site. Annie Williams highlights that there is a circle of 5 temple sites which include the Magdalene church, and the remains of earlier temples to Artemis, Isis, Serapis and Asclepius-Hygeia, all found at Empúries. What is even more amazing is that a Roman mosaic of the Flower of Life sits close to the centre of this circle. It was on the floor of a Roman villa at Empúries and can still be seen today. We’ll take our time exploring and feeling the energies of this sacred land which has been honoured through the ages. The water and the dragon will reveal themselves to you. What do they say?

● When our cup is full we will find a nearby restaurant for lunch, returning to Roses for relaxation and integration. In the evening, we may choose to visit Castell de la Trinitat (Trinity Castle) which crowns the Poncella Point above the lighthouse, and offers a spectacular sunset view.

FRIDAY JUNE 19TH – ROSES TO MONTSERRAT

After breakfast we’ll farewell the coast of the White Goddess and continue our odyssey in the mountains of Montserrat with the Black Madonna. Although it is only a two hour journey via the motorway, we will follow a more ancient route associated with the Way of the Stars which passes many places named after Magdalena. We’ll stop briefly at the medieval town of Besalú to view the beautiful Pont Viejo (Old Bridge), and then continue onto the town of Vic for a magical experience in the Episcopal Museum. To use Annie Williams’ words, it is “a veritable cauldron overflowing with images of women of wisdom,” and Magdalena is definitely the Queen (see the image at the top of the page).

● After museum immersion and lunch, we’ll continue our journey to the magnificent Montserrat where we’ll spend the next two nights at the Apartments Abat Marcet, amidst the sacred atmosphere of the Monastery of Montserrat. We’ll visit the exquisite 12th century La Moreneta (The Dark One) in the Basilica in the late afternoon when the day trippers have left, and spend time in contemplation with the dark goddess. We’ll have a group dinner at the Montserrat restaurant.

SATURDAY JUNE 20TH – MONTSERRAT

● Our full day in Montserrat is not structured since our time here is your retreat into the dark goddess energy. There are hikes into the mountains (+ funicular if required), including to the ruins of the Hermitage of Santa Magdalena. Montserrat was always a holy site, cradling a temple of Venus and other goddess connections prior to the discovery of La Moreneta in a cave by shepherds in 880. We’ll visit this cave, Santa Cova de Montserrat, tomorrow.

You may also like to spend time in contemplation or prayer in the Basilica, or attend Laudes, the Rosary or Vespers. As a group we will attend one mass on the Saturday evening sung by the Monks and the ‘L’Escolania’ choir (Montserrat boys choir). There is also a museum at the site that you may be interested in exploring.

● During our time in Montserrat we will have a visit with a very special guest, my friend, Montse. Yes, she is named for the mountain which she grew up alongside! Montse has so many stories about the mountain and the monastery that you do not find in the tourist information, and she is excited to spend time with us to share her experience of this sacred place.

SUNDAY JUNE 21ST – MONTSERRAT TO EUS

● Today is the summer solstice! After checkout we’ll walk the 40 minutes down to Santa Cova de Montserrat, the hillside cave and chapel where La Moreneta was discovered. This feels a more worthy Black Madonna location, and a beautiful way to complete our journey with her essence.

● Farewelling Montserrat, we drive towards the Pyrénées. Our journey to Eus is three hours, however if we wish to have another Black Madonna encounter, we may choose to take a one hour detour to Solsona Cathedral to meet La Mare de Déu del Claustre (The Mother of God of the Cloister). This magnificent statue closely resembles Isis and Horus and is considered more pagan than most as she isn’t veiled and has long braids, her left knee is exposed and she is wearing a garter, indicating she is noble royalty…

● Whether we choose this detour or not, we will have lunch en-route to our beautiful 6 bedroom farmhouse near Eus, a small village that sits close to the majestic Mount Canigou. We’ll spend our evening by the pool celebrating the summer solstice and indulging in the delicious French food and wine that we’ll pick up in nearby Prades.

● Now we are in the frequency of Mount Canigou it is time to integrate the Dark and the Light Goddess, using the fire festival of the solstice to move into the full embodiment of the Rose Goddess.

MONDAY JUNE 22ND – EUS

● The dates for our odyssey were specifically chosen to coincide with the pyrénéen solstice festival, the Feast of St John, celebrated by the Catalans on both the Spanish and French side of the mountain. Every year the flame is carried from its source in Perpignan up the slopes of Canigou for the fire ritual of Flama del Canigó. Tomorrow night we’ll enjoy the festivities at a local village, but today the energy will still be alight throughout the region.

● After a slower morning to integrate our Dark Goddess journey, we’ll drive to the slopes of Mount Canigou to commune with this sacred land and a sacred place that sits upon it. L’Abbaye Saint-Martin du Canigou was originally built in 1009 but after being closed in the late 18th century and left to nature for more than 100 years, was restored in the early 20th century. In the silence of this land you can hear the heartbeat of Canigou, and although we can only enter the Abbaye by doing a guided tour (in French!), you will still be present to the silence of this place in the rose-filled cloister; in the crypt-like lower church of St Mary; and as you gaze into the depths of the surrounding mountain.

● We’ll bring a picnic with us and find a sanctuary in the woods to eat and hold a circle communing with Pyrene, the fire goddess of the Pyrénées.

● Afterwards we’ll carry her spark to Cascades Saut Grand de Catllar, salt waterfalls near our accommodation, for purification in the waters.

● After our cleansing ceremony we may choose to go to a local restaurant for dinner or eat at our delightful farmhouse.

TUESDAY JUNE 23RD – EUS

● Today is John the Baptists’s Eve where our odyssey culminates with the annual ritual of lighting the solstice fires. Just as the winter solstice festival was replaced with the birth of Jesus, the summer solstice was replaced with the birth of John the Baptist. Here in the Pyrénées the celebration is definitely more pagan than christian! There are several towns and villages in the region holding celebrations today and at this stage I’m feeling drawn to  Vernet-les-Bains which is near Saint-Martin du Canigou. However the nearby village of Mosset may also call to us. We will see where the rose petals fall.

● Before we depart our accommodation we will hold a ceremony to integrate the pyrénéen fire and dragon energy through the Rose Goddess aspect of Mary Magdalene, with Her Dark and Light aspects. We will continue this ceremony of The Rose and The Dragon into the local festivities which will go well into the night!

WEDNESDAY JUNE 24TH – EUS TO CARCASSONNE

● After the festivities we’ll have a slower morning and checkout at 10am. Today we return to Carcassonne and have several amazing options available as stops along our route, but unfortunately we’ll have to make a choice. We could visit the Cathar castle of Peyreperteuse, or the village of Rennes-les-Bains to bathe in the hot springs, sit on the Throne of Isis and have a cold plunge at La Fontaine des Amours (Lovers’ Fountain) on the river Salz. Or we may choose to visit Rennes-le-Château, a tiny village steeped in mystery with a  Magdalene watchtower…

We’ll select two stops to give us time to soak up the energy of these sacred places. In the past I have spent weeks exploring just this area alone, so today is truly a taster, perhaps for a journey to be continued next year…

● Once we arrive at our house in Carcassonne we’ll gather for a final circle to celebrate our journey with the triple goddess. Tonight we celebrate each other and the beautiful gift that Mary Magdalene has given us as we followed her codes through this sacred land.

THURSDAY JUNE 25TH – DEPART CARCASSONNE

● Departure day. After our final breakfast together you’ll be returned to Carcasssonne train station or airport.
